This year's 22nd festival will be held under the theme of ‘Prospect’. With over 50 exhibitions on show throughout the emirate, including the Sharjah Art Museum, Al Majaz Waterfront, and Maraya Art Centre, presenting the works of local, regional and international artists. Horizon to Horizon is a celebration of light and colour, bursting with energy and life. My proposal for the Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival uses geometric forms to represent the moon and the stars from classical Islamic design and literature. I was especially inspired by the 13th century, Persian poet and mystic, Rumi, who wrote, "Moonlight floods the whole sky from horizon to horizon; how much it can fill your room depends on its windows." Horizon to Horizon embodies the natural beauty of Rumi's poetry and his transcendent words still bringing people from all over the world together today.
